Ultrasound update

There really just isn’t anything like seeing your baby moving up on that screen. *sentimental sigh* But the belly goop that goes along with it…I could certainly do without. I realize I’m going to need to get over my hatred of sticky real fast with a kidlet on the way with all the fingers and boogers and… But that goop gets all up on your clothes and then you just feel slimy until you can get home and change with a serious sense of urgency. It’s an ordeal, truly. I’m rolling my eyes at myself.

The good news: that’s all I have to moan and groan about. Baby hess is doing so well in there and just growing and lounging and growing some more. This prego-nancy has been smoothe sailing and I’m crazy happy, healthy and grateful for the little miracle we’ve got brewing.

The stats– HR: 153. Weight: 1lb 2oz. At 22 weeks 4 days

S/he has a cute little button nose visible in the profile shot above and is lying across my tum with feets over on my right and head over on my left. Could’ve guessed that one based on the very localized right-sided flip flops that have been surprising me mid-day. Always welcomed of course.

In other baby related news, the nursery overhaul has begun. Don’t get too excited. I just mean that I started sorting through and getting rid of all the junk Ry and I have jointly accumulated over the past 5+ post-grad years. Anyone looking for some old tshirts, blankets, textbooks, binders full of nursing notes… No? No takers?

Here are some gems that just happened to be uncovered during the purge to make way for baby:

  • My journal from senior year of high school in case I ever wanted to relive some teenage turmoil?
  • A bin full of winter clothes that I clearly didn’t miss this season, probably for good reason
  • Ryan’s childhood karate uniform (ya my babe was a blackbelt, whattup)
  • Every old electronic cord/charger/adapter and the deserted iPods, cellphones, gps’s and laptops that they likely belonged to
  • Wedding decor remnants and the bins upon bins of craft supplies used to create them
  • College dorm-esque ‘furniture,’ more like walmart particle board piles and useless falling plastic bins and toppling bookcases
  • Some weights. Like to lift. That haven’t been lifted except to be moved in who knows how long.
  • And the cherry on top… My senior prom dress.

It’s been a wild ride and I’m only half way through the room o’treasure we’ve been referring to as ground zero since we moved in. But the rooms new life as the nursery is one full day of clearing closer to fulfilling its true purpose. Slowly but surely, little nursery, we will make you all cute and homey. I swears it.
