#KJBinNYC

Kate, Jill and Bri ventured to NYC courtesy of Bridget’s fabulously out of the box, never been done before, TRIP of a Christmas present! NYC announced on the back of a 3 musketeers bar. So on point. And this girl, man, she knows how to wow.
The three of us stayed at the W hotel in Times Square. View out the window included tall buildings and Budweiser. See below

And we had all the sustenance we could ever need.

First on the agenda. Walk around Times Square looking like tourists and apologizing for bumping into people… like tourists. Check. We shopped a little and bought some matching bras because we are still 3 little cousins who enjoy dressing like we are triplets. Not that anyone will ever see us wearing them at the same time (shoot, that was pointless!) Every other purchase made was either food– candy, crepes, froyo (we hit all the major food groups there) or… drinks that came in souvenir cups. Obviously.
We also took photos with the things we weren’t going to spend money on.

After a rousing get ready session where no pregaming was done (unfathomable as of 4 months ago), we ventured out for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Cue taking pictures like tourists (some classier than others.)

After stuffing our faces to the point of belt loosening and learning tricks on how not to get our purses stolen from our street-wise waitress, we were on to the main attraction.

Aladdin did not disappoint. Jasmine may have juusssst a little bit. But Aladdin and Mr. Genie could’ve put on the whole show by themselves and it still would’ve been a spectacular success.

Favorite parts:
The genies entrance: He came out of that lamp. I swear it.
The magical flying carpet: I essentially missed a whole new world because I was so mesmerized by what we determined could only be a hovercraft. HOW?
That dance move where the men squat and kick their legs out from under them. : It gets me every. time.
All of it.

Unfavorite part:
They wrote Abu out of the show. Completely. And then made subtle references to how difficult/dirty monkeys are as if to rationalize the decision. They turned Iago into a human. Why not add a cute little kid hopping around beside Aladdin dressed in brown with a banana? Too much to ask?
(Addendum: I was informed that they added three human friends to the story to take Abu’s place. While they were great characters — 3 men don’t make a monkey.)
The show was so exhilarating we went to bed directly following. Dear Avocado, you make me sleepy. But I was able to take some touristy gems before my head hit the pillow.

Super Bowl Sunday brought with it some urgency to get back to our game viewing destinations. But not enough to encourage us to be timely.
Bus departure: 10:30
Arrival at port authority: 10:27

But here I sit on our bus home so grateful for two things.
1) catching said bus
&
2) my beautiful, thoughtful, better-than-sister cousins and our adventures together, big or small. I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
