Lydie Lou. My Bugaboo. You’re two! You’re two! you’re two! …months old.
And so so beautiful. Remember how all the old aunts always wanted to pinch your cheeks when you were little? How that was a thing that old people did? Welp, call me an old lady because all I want to do is spend my days squeezing Lydia’s little rolls and kissing her little nose and constantly having my face right up in her grill. Right. up. in it. I have actual zits in my face from her head resting against my cheeks. True story. Her fuzzy little head of hair is so cuddly I can’t stand it. And I just want to gobble up her two tiny hands and two adorable feets and just eat her up… Poor Lydie. I’d be swatting me away if I were her. Oh wait. She is.
2 month appointment stats:
13lbs 4oz
24 inches
And too many shots! I didn’t peg myself as the crying type… At least not in regards to shots. I give them all the time. My baby cries all time. We are used to these things. They surely wouldn’t be a big deal.
WRONNGGGG!
They stuck her poor little unassuming legs while I distracted her with some sing songy sounds and then I saw her cute face turn that awful shade of purple….Ugh. She couldn’t even eek out a squeak or a breath for too many seconds. It hit me so hard that it took my own breath away. I couldn’t squeeze her close enough or even eek out my own squeaks to soothe her. It was just water works. I’m tearing up thinking about it. So much worse than anticipated. Worst even.
Otherwise, Miss smileypants is the happiest little babe. Unless she’s hungry, then man you don’t wanna cross her. Seriously. Don’t even. But those smiles are the sweetest little addition to Miss Lydia’s resume.. especially considering they aren’t always toot related.
Other new skills:
Talking. Okay cooing… whatever. They are quite adorable little intentional vocalizations. So far she can say “humph” “oooooh” “AAH” and “gurgleurgleurgle.” Next will probably be Mom.
Tracking. She’s got her eyes on you always. It’s actually pretty cute and endearing. Those bright eyes follow you around the room as if to ask ‘Where do you think you’re going with my food machines… Come back!’ I choose to focus on the ‘come back’ part. Makes me feel important and loved. Whatever I can do to inflate the self-esteem…
Clawing. I’ve got the scratch marks to prove it all over my hands, chest, and face from when her immediate and insatiable hunger strikes.
Loving her duck.
Enjoying the Big E.
Allowing Mom and Dad to attend many weddings and wedding related activities.
And most importantly – sleeping through the night. Fearing retribution from all sleepy mamas – I hate to admit that Lydia is a snooze expert. 10p-6a, pretty consistently. 8 hours. Yes, I am counting the stars. My lucky ones. All of the lucky stars. I am so grateful for my little sleeper babe.
Stop the babble and get to the two month pics… fine.
So adorable, both of you. Continue to enjoy every minute they go by way too fast.
