Knitting the new-fashioned way!

While the atmosphere was busy dumping some more white fluff on New England this weekend, I sat on my tush pinning. And pinning and pinning. And thinking to myself wow, this would be a great time to actually attempt one of these ‘super easy, a monkey could do this, you will absolutely succeed’ DIY projects that never live up to their promising descriptions. Too bad I probably don’t have the materials necessary to complete anything and my lazy couch dweller status during snowstorms doesn’t equate to obtaining materials of any kind from any place that isn’t within arms reach. And then Kristen, my bros main squeeze and my adorable gal pal, looked up from her phone and out of nowhere proclaimed her desire to arm knit a blanket! OF COURSE! That’s exactly what should happened. She’s a mind reader and motivator. This girl = a straight up keeper.
Fast forward through a trip to Walmart and the realization that a blanket might be a lot too ambitious… We have yarn in hand, a YouTube tutorial ready to go on the propped up iPad between us and we were ready to arm knit ourselves some infinity scarves! We also managed to look like the oldest pair of spinsters to ever be in their 20s.

There’s a lot going on in these, but my husband/photographer did the best he could with minimal instruction. Our next challenge may be hopping on the elliptical whilst arm knitting. I’ll let you know how that goes.

And this is just the prettiest I’ve ever looked on the internet probably.

Overall this is a major Pinterest victory!!!
Total cost: Somewhere around $12.00 for the 2 skeins?skanes? yarn balls. However I made 2 scarves sooooo my incredible math skills tell me it was only about 6 buckaroos for a scarf I’d pay 20 for.
Total time: 1st scarf – 1.5 hours including complete learning curve.
2nd scarf – 35 minutes!

Finished product!

With a little peek at the pomegranate baby being concealed and contained by my leggings that are managing to get uncomfortably tight.

It may be the only productive thing I did all weekend. But SCARF!!!!
Many thanks to Ms. Martin for the encouragement & companionship.
And obviously to this tutorial for the fabulous instructions. My repayment is the large number of views you got today from me replaying and replaying.

Warmly,

Jill
