Wait though…eBay!

Did we all forget about eBay? I think we did!! We lost sight of this magical e-land where things are half price because someone bought it without thinking. Or bought it in the wrong size. Or bought it and hated it but you love it so yay because they are selling it for like, a dollar..

I’m not too proud to use used goods. Actually, I just filled Lydia’s closet with bags full of handmedowns from some family friends and friends of family and my girl will be dressed to the nines for the next year of her life because of their generosity.  The outside world won’t know if her super cute jeggings came directly from baby gap or from baby gap via an adorable 2 year old, her mom’s washing machine and a trashbag labeled 6-9 months.  Who gives a good care. Not I says this mama. Not I. It’s all in such good shape. Some of it still has tags! And what doesn’t have tags was loved, pre-washed and pre-shrunk. Win. Oh and free. It was free.

Enter (or re-enter?) eBay. eBay was cool in like the early 2000s, along with AOL, AIM, yahoo games (maybe that was just me)… But I’d forgotten about it for a long while. Not that I was regularly bidding in middle school. I was busy playing spider solitaire and making sure I had a sweet away message. But I’ve rediscovered eBay’s existence and now I’m auction addicted. And, clearly, proud to be purchasing goods that are used (or not) but still have plenty of life left in them.

Where on earth do you go to buy authentic looking horseshoes for bridal shower centerpieces without breaking the bank? eBay. Where do you find lots of antique bottles for your wedding decor when you already exhausted every antique and thrift store in the state? eBay. And where do you turn when you want something really expensive that maybe someone in the universe used twice and doesn’t want anymore and listed for a fraction of the retail price?  eBay.

Amazon prime is great and all. The instant gratification of having anything you want delivered in what? A day? (I don’t use prime) I’m sure, is amazing. But I love the feeling of hunting down the perfect product, watching as the bids come in, and at the last minute beating out another buyer with my highest bid to win and pay less than what Amazon sells it for. Maybe it’s just the bargain shopper blood in me. But there’s not much more satisfying than working a tiny bit harder to save that extra dollar… Or $60.
Yay for eBay… You totally still  relevant online marketplace. Thanks for all the fun times and super cheap finds.
