Fall Fests. Plural.

Ahhh it’s that time of year again. When pumpkin is available in abundance and the sweaters and boots are broken out even if the temps are still in the 70s. Guilty! Aren’t sweater called sweaters because you sweat in them? No? Whatever. I eat it allll up! The crisp air. The warm decor. The pumpkin everything. All of it. But I feel like anything I say about my enthusiasm for the season is going to sound redundant and basic. Every bit of me hates that fall is so trendy, but then not because it makes it so easy to enjoy. Thanks PSL for working that magic. Pumpkin pumpkin everywhere.

I went to a few fall festivals and let’s just say I’m a creature of habit lover of tradition.

The Hesses tackle the big E in much the same way every year. Same cast of characters. Same parking location on the street where uncle Mikey grew up. Same entrance at the gate that smells like elephant poop. Same first stop- a beer and warm lobster roll. Same stroll through the state buildings. Even mostly the same foods purchases because what’s good is good: Apple crisp, apple cider donuts, a baked potato, a cream puff, many more beers and a whitehut burger for good measure. Every bit of this annual trip is amazing! Especially the part where I said it is annual!

This year was extra fun and super cute because Gigi pushed Lydia and Bipi carried the diaper bag backpack and mom and dad walked behind them with beers in hand like we were on a babyless date!  Everyone wins at the big E!

Nice baby ya got there, guys!

I also managed to squeak in a trip home for the Scituate Art Festival,  also tackled in much the same way each year… With my friend Meg.  I learned this year that the art fest isn’t very stroller friendly and you need to get your apple dumpling before they run out/close. But there will never be anything like my Rhody home at this time of year. It brings you right back to your core. And I adore introducing Lydia to everything wonderful about her mamas roots.

Now if only my house was a decked out for the season as it was last year. Secret…. It’s not. But we can all pretend it looks like this again and that my living room isn’t scattered with folded laundry, assorted baby seats and brightly colored burp cloths. At least the laundry is clean?

Happy Fall to you all! Enjoy all the enjoyable-ness!
