Our little nugget probably recognizes the back of my iPhone about as well as she does my face. Mainly because she still only sees blobs and high contrast colors, being a newborn and all. The point is she’s been the subject of many a photograph in her short time on this earth post- and pre-birth. I was forewarned by my parental counterparts to free up my phone storage for the photo onslaught that was about to occur. Fortunately, I listened. Unfortunately, all the newborn photos in the world will never be enough to capture all the cuteness that I’m observing and adoring on the daily. Phone full.
Knowing in advance that capturing the treasured newborn moments would be of utmost importance, I planned ahead (because the pinterest lists of things to do before birth told me to) and booked Lydie’s newborn photoshoot in advance of her arrival. I didn’t have to do much research to find a photographer; my western MA peeps already did that for me. I went with Karen Geaghan who photographed many an engagement, wedding, newborn and family portrait for cousins, in-laws, friends… We’re talking a degree or two of separation from every social contact I’ve got here. Her name and beautiful work pop up all over my FB newsfeed. The decision was quite the no brainer.
Not sure if you remember, but Lydia’s birth wasn’t exactly right on schedule. The last thing on my mind while in and out of the hospital was trying to coordinate this shoot… but Karen was so on top of it! And so flexible. Crazy crazy flexible. The newborn photos were rescheduled at least 4 times due to all the unforeseen circumstances and she was so understanding and helpful in terms of getting it done. Before that, though, I was so impressed by her level of organization and her guide that laid out exactly what to do on the day of the shoot in preparation. She provided every bit of the extreme hand-holding that I needed, but certainly never expected. I owe you one, or more like 10, Karen!
